this project involved a restaurant in the centre of bratislava. baroque was the inspiration due to the way this style works with matter and space. we wanted to approach the project like people from the baroque era would if they had access to contemporary technologies and materials. in the interior, a number of historical elements are reiterated and the certain imprecision of handwork and handicrafts is re-discovered and emphasized.

practically every interior today makes use of a double ceiling, especially to hide the vast amount of technologies that today’s buildings are “riddled” with. however, a straight plasterboard ceiling lacks detail and any sort of invention. in the first floor, where there are no vaulted ceilings, the ceiling is constructed differently: it has detail and energy and it forms a distinctive component of the interior while maintaining its function of concealing the technical networks. it forms a sort of ornament with pronounced differences in height. in some places there are mirrors, and here the ceiling appears to cave in.

the drapery and textiles in the interior as a whole are a significant motif. together with fashion designer radka kubková, historical drapery became the inspiration, where traditional textiles, such as velvet and leather, are combined with entirely modern textiles not normally used for these purposes, such as uhelon (a nylon sieve-like material).
